Privacy note

Not a Privacy Policy in the legal-boilerplate sense - this is the plain-language version, and it's the actual version: the owner of AmpKeeper wrote it and has read it, rather than pasting in a generic template. If anything here is unclear, email hello@ampkeeper.com and ask.

What we collect

If you join the waiting list, that's your email address, nothing else.

If you apply for the self-flash beta, it's your name and email address, plus whatever you tell us about your setup: inverter, wallbox, vehicle and home battery make and model, and anything you write in the free-text notes field. We ask for a name because a beta place is arranged by email between two people, and being written to by name beats being written to as an address. Only the first name and the email are asked for; everything else on that form is optional, including your surname.

The beta form also lets you tick the release waiting list, so you only type your address once. They stay two separate lists with their own emails, and you can leave either one on its own.

Both forms confirm your address by email before anything is recorded. Until you click the link we send you, what you submitted is an unconfirmed request: it isn't on any list, nobody has read it, and it reaches us only when you confirm. That's also why someone typing your address into our form can't sign you up for anything.

Why we collect it

To send waiting-list news (when the beta opens up further, when hardware lands) and nothing else on that list. For beta applicants, your setup details are how we pick ten to twenty people for hardware diversity: different inverters, wallboxes and vehicles, not just whoever applied first.

Who processes it

Your confirmed signup details are stored, and every email we send goes out, through Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France), the email platform AmpKeeper uses to run its waiting list and beta communications. We're naming them specifically, rather than saying "a third-party email provider," because knowing who actually holds your data is what makes agreeing to hand it over an informed choice.

That includes the confirmation step itself: what you type reaches Brevo as soon as you submit the form, because Brevo is what holds the unconfirmed request and sends you the link. It becomes a stored contact on one of our lists only when you click it.

When you confirm, Brevo tells our server so it can let us know a signup came in and we can send you an acknowledgement. Nothing reaches us before you click: an unconfirmed submission is never announced to anyone. We keep no database of our own: your details stay in Brevo, and our copy lasts only as long as it takes to send those emails. Our web server's log does record that a signup or a confirmation happened with the email address, the way it records every request it handles; those logs are rotated and discarded.

Website analytics

Google Analytics starts when a page loads so we can understand how people use the site. It receives standard information from your browser, including pages viewed, approximate location inferred from IP address, device and browser information, and an identifier stored in the _ga cookie. We do not deliberately send the fields you enter in our forms to Google Analytics.

Google processes this information under its own Privacy Policy. Google also explains how it uses information from sites and apps that use its services in its partner-sites notice.

How to leave

Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@ampkeeper.com and ask us to remove you - that works even if you never received an email to unsubscribe from.

We don't sell or share it

Your signup details are not sold, rented, or shared with anyone outside Brevo acting as our email processor. We do not sell visitor information to ad networks, data brokers, or "trusted partners." Google Analytics is the separate website-analytics service described above.

Fonts

The main AmpKeeper site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. That means a visit to ampkeeper.com discloses your IP address to Google, the way any request to a third-party server does - worth knowing, even though it's a common and mostly unavoidable cost of using web fonts.

How long we keep it

Honestly: we haven't settled on a specific retention period yet, and we'd rather say that plainly than invent a number we haven't actually committed to. If you want your data removed sooner than "when we get around to deciding this properly," email hello@ampkeeper.com and we'll act on it directly.
